Rebecca "Becca" Gardner-Rhudy

Rebecca "Becca" Gardner-Rhudy, of Darlington, MD, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the age of 78. She is survived by her spouse, Bob Rhudy, grandchildren Jack, Kennedy and Emila, and numerous Purinton and Hall cousins in Maine, California and Vermont. Becca was born in West Bowdoin, Maine and moved with her family to Maryland in 1947 when she was two-years old. She was predeceased by her father Marchant Hall, mother Ruth Purinton Hall, brother David Hall, and former husband Phillip Gardner. 

After graduating from Rippon College, Wisconsin, Becca worked nearly two years in New York City before moving to California where she met and married Phil. They lived around San Francisco and Los Angeles for sixteen years before they came to live adjacent to Becca's parents in Maryland. She then became a long-serving middle school language arts teacher in Harford County, Maryland, and was living at and managing her family farm outside of Darlington at the time of her death. She has been very involved with Quaker activities around Maryland and throughout Baltimore Yearly Meeting, Religious Society of Friends and numerous other local, national and international organizations pursuing world peace, environmental protection, racial and social justice and other causes. She continued serving as a tutor for children with special needs.

Burial services were held at Deer Creek Friends Meeting, 1212 Main Street, Darlington, MD 21034 on Monday, August 19th at 12:00 pm. Please omit flowers.
