Deborah Ayanlola, of Owings Mills, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024, at the age of 77. She is survived by her children, Nike Oladimeji, Wale (Tokunbo) Ayanlola, and Joke (Kunle) Fakayejo; and grandchildren, Anjola Oladimeji, Tobi Oladimeji, Adedayo Fakayejo, Damilola Fakayejo, Eniola Oladimeji, Demilade Fakayejo, Ebunoluwa Ayanlola, and Ireoluwa Ayanlola. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Dr. Joseph Ayanlola.
Deborah Ayanlola (nee Akande) was born into the family of Baba Daniel Oladele Akande of blessed memory. She had her Elementary and Secondary education at St. Anne's Anglican School, Sekondi and Axim Secondary School, Ghana respectively.
Mrs Ayanlola trained as a Nurse at the Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo, Ghana and as a midwife at the St. Patrick's Hospital, Offinso, Ghana. She received further training at the School of Nursing, Eleyele, Ibadan, Nigeria. Apart from her formal training, Mrs Ayanlola attended a number of workshops /seminars and other in-service training programmes to enhance and sharpen her skills as a professional.
A talented and very skillful Nurse/Midwife, Deborah Ayanlola worked for a number of years in various hospitals in Ghana before finally returning to Nigeria in 1980. Since then, she had at one time or the other worked at Baptist Medical Center Ogbomoso (Now Bowen University Teaching Hospital), Adeoyo Hospital, Ibadan, State Hospital Oyo and State Hospital, Ogbomoso. She retired as a Chief Nursing Officer of the Oyo State Health Management Board, Nigeria in July 2006.
A great lover of young people, committed to their well-being, Deborah Ayanlola mentored and has a sizeable number of spiritual sons and daughters. She was married to Rev, Dr. Joseph Ayanlola of blessed memory and the union blessed with children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road Pikesville, MD 21208, on Friday, February 16th, 2024, at 12:00 pm. Interment follows immediately at King Memorial Park, 8710 Dogwood Road, Baltimore, MD 21244.
